Nordic Sangeet

Stockholm Sangeet was proud to introduce the initiative Nordic Sangeet during 2024 and 2025 which is facilitating new collaborations between musicians of South Asian classical music that has never met before, and yet are all based in the Nordic countries.

The first concert of this project was presented at the SSF2024 main stage and featured the Norwegian queen of sitar Rohini Sahajpal, and from Sweden, the maestro of the rabab Wali Heidar and tabla virtouso Suranjana Ghosh.

In May 2025 we had the amazing trio of Patrick Vedlog, Moa Danielson, and Gabriel Svastha performing two concerts in Denmark at both Koncertkirken and in the spring concert of Kalai in Aarhus.

In the beginning of the summer of 2025 Sanskriti Suomi hosted a concert featuring Uma Ranganathan, Stian Grimstad and Mirwais Fedai as well as local artists Nisha Mammen, Sudhir AK and Arvind Shankar.

The latest installment of the Nordic Sangeet project took place at Melahuset in Oslo as a musical encounter between the outstanding musicians Sameer Naimpalli, Sanskriti Shrestha and KG Westman. The evening started with a panel discussion by the musicians about spreading the South Asian classical music in the Nordic countries and ended with a concert of classical, tabla solo, ghazals and bhajans.
