This year we are celebrating the 20 years jubilee of Stockholm Sangeet Festival! The festival is going on all of October and culminates in the main concert at Eric Ericsonhallen on Skeppsholmen, featuring some of the greatest artists of Indian classical music.
Abhay Sopori is the torchbearer of santoor in the style of Sufiana Gharana originating in Kashmir, carrying the legacy of his father Pt Bhajan Sopori forward. He will be accompanied by Nihar Mehta on tabla who is a familiar name to the SSF audience, having accompanied many big stars since decades. The event will start with a violin recital by Nandini Shankar, one of the celebrated granddaughters of the legendary Dr N. Rajam, specializing in making the violin sing like a human voice. Tabla support will be given by Sweden´s own Suranjana Ghosh, known from SVT and for her many collaborations with the countries best musicians of all genres.
At the venue we will also enjoy artwork by Annika Heed and photography by Max Dahlstrand and other surprises.
